Rotary Club hosts special screening of AIDS film

The Alliston Rotary Club is sponsoring a screening of A Closer Walk. The movie, narrated by Glenn Close and Will Smith, is about the AIDS epidemic in Africa.

The movie will be shown at the Base Borden Cinema Terra March 27 at 7 p.m. and runs for 85 minutes.

Admission is by donation. Proceeds will go to Dignitas International (DI). DI is a Canadian medical humanitarian organization. It supports 11 voluntary -counselling and test­ing sites in Africa.

Rotary member Johanne Levesque first saw the movie last year in Toronto.

"When I saw it, you get the goose bumps and you want to cry and I knew I had to do something," she said. So she brought the movie to Simcoe County. "You know sometimes you feel like a little person, like you can't make a difference, but you can if you get a group together."
