April 26
"VOLUNTEERS GROW COMMUNITY
CONTACT - South Simcoe Community Information Centre will host a Tree
Dedication Ceremony to celebrate National Volunteer Week 2006.
National Volunteer Week is a special time set aside in April to honour
the people who donate their time and energy to their fellow citizens. It
is also meant to raise awareness of the vital contribution volunteers
make to our communities.
In the spirit of this year's National Volunteer Week theme, "Volunteers
Grow Community", CONTACT - South Simcoe Community Information Centre
will be holding a Tree Dedication Ceremony at Riverdale Park in
Alliston, Ontario on Wednesday, April 26th, 2006 at 1:00 p.m.
Mayor Mike MacEachern will take part in the unveiling of a commemorative
plaque to pay homage to our local volunteers and the Alliston Union
Public School Choir has graciously offered to perform in celebration of
this very special event.
"CONTACT has been the beneficiary of 28 years of committed and
enthusiastic volunteer support. In addition to acknowledging our own
volunteers, CONTACT wishes to honour the contributions of all volunteers
that support our community." said Seija Suutari, Executive Director of
CONTACT.
CONTACT is sincerely grateful to Somerville Nurseries, Regal Granite
Inc., Flowers by Lady Di, and the Town of New Tecumseth Parks,
Recreation and Culture Department for their generous support of this
event.
We invite everyone in the community to join us for this wonderful
tribute.
